A popular thing for Wordpress users to do every now and then is to list out the various plugins they use to run their site. I am a bit of a Wordpress plugin whore.
I will install and uninstall Wordpress plugins all the time to see what they do. If I like them, they join my core group, if not, they fade off into oblivion. Below is an alphabetical list of Wordpress plugins that I use as my core group.
404 Notifier: This Wordpress plugin emails me every time someone gets a 404 error. When I get the email it helps me nail down any broken links or problems the site may be having. It is also handy for knowing when someone or something is poking around areas of your site where they don’t belong.
Akismet: An absolutely indispensable Wordpress plugin that combats comment and trackback spam. The only downside to this Wordpress plugin is that you need to set up a Wordpress.com account in order to be able to use it. Which really isn’t a huge downside unless you live in China like me where Wordpress.com is blocked.
Coppermine: This Wordpress plugin allows me to display the thumbnail teasers you see at the right-top of the site.
Coppermine Widget: This Wordpress plugin turns the above Wordpress plugin into a nifty widget.
Feedburner Feed Replacement: Here is a Wordpress plugin that allows me to redirect any calls for my RSS feeds to Feedburner automatically. Very useful if you want to use Feedburner to track your RSS usage.
Get Recent Comments: This Wordpress plugin widget allows me a lot of flexability in displaying the recent comments made by visitors to this site.
Google (XML) Sitemaps: Another very useful Wordpress plugin for me. This plugin does what it says. It creates XML sitemaps for use by Google. Google loves sitemaps and I love Google. It’s a win-win situation.
Inline Ajax Comments: This Wordpress plugin creates the nifty inline comments you see when you click on the “show comments†links on this site.
Jerome’s Keywords: This is one of my favorite Wordpress plugins. This Wordpress plugin allows me to attach keywords to all of my posts very easily. It also dynamically changes the keywords on a page to match the content displayed. Very cool.
Shortcut Macros: This Wordpress plugin allows me to take a string of commonly used characters and replace them with a macro. For example, instead of typing “I love Wordpress pluginsâ€, I would just type “##wp†and when I save the post, it will automatically change the ##wp to “I love Wordpress pluginsâ€. Cool, huh?
Sidebar Widgets: This is the root of all Wordpress plugin widgets. With this Wordpress plugin I can use the Wordpress widgets that allow me to reposition things on this site without having to do any programming.
Subscribe Me: This Wordpress plugin widget allows users to subscribe to the RSS feed of this site through their favorite RSS readers.
Translate: This Wordpress plugin widget allows users to read this site in multiple languages by using Google’s software translation tool.
So there you have it. All these Wordpress plugins and widgets are what makes this site the cool place that it is.
(Man, that was a lot of linking. Ugh.)

subcorpus,
I am glad you like the list. I wouldn’t be able to run this place without them.
